In the folklore of Scotland’s Shetland Islands, the wulver is a creature with a man’s body and a wolf’s head. Despite its monstrous appearance, it is a gentle and solitary being.

Unlike a werewolf, the wulver is not a transformed human and is naturally kind. It was known for fishing for hours and benevolently leaving its catch on the windowsills of poor or sick families.
The legend was popularized by folklorist Jessie Saxby, though some modern scholars suggest she may have invented the creature, possibly by misinterpreting an old place name.
