John Wesley (1703–1791), founder of the Methodist movement, reported hauntings by a poltergeist at his residence. The spirit allegedly appeared in the form of a basset hound and a rabbit, both disappearing when touched. Such supernatural accounts form part of Methodist and English religious folklore.
