Walter Lollard was a 14th-century preacher who initiated a religious movement known as Lollardy. He preached against the wealth and corruption of the Church, advocating for a simpler, more personal form of Christianity. Lollard’s teachings drew inspiration from earlier heretical movements like the Waldensians and the Cathars. He was accused of heresy and burned at the stake in Cologne in 1322. Lollardy continued to spread after his death, particularly in England, where it influenced religious reformers like John Wycliffe.
