Klabberou Kab-Outer are small sprites in Scottish folklore. During moonless winter nights, they enter houses through chimneys and sit by the hearth, relighting the fire without being seen. They consume the firewood, leaving only small pieces. If the homeowner relights the fire, these remaining pieces provide as much heat as large logs. Making the sign of the cross or cursing the Klabberou breaks the spell, and the sprite may retaliate with mischief. They are described as having red clothing and green skin. These sprites represent the ambiguous nature of household spirits, capable of both help and harm.
