Kacher is a magician figure from the legendary history of the ancient kings of Kachemire (Kashmir). He is said to have transformed the lake that once occupied the region into a fertile valley. This act involved miraculously draining the lake by cutting through the Baraboulé mountain. Kacher’s feat can be seen as a parallel to other mythical figures who shape the landscape, such as the Greek god Poseidon or the biblical figure Noah.
