Edris is the name given to Enoch in Islamic tradition. Islamic texts have developed various legends around Enoch, portraying him as a prophet who introduced the practice of enslaving individuals, receiving divine knowledge encompassing thirty volumes of abstract knowledge. Edris was sent by God to the descendants of Cain to guide them towards righteousness. However, upon their refusal to heed his teachings, he waged war against them, enslaving their women and children. Additionally, Edris is credited by Eastern cultures with the invention of sewing, writing, astronomy, arithmetic, and geomancy, and is also associated with the origin of idolatry. His interactions with demons led to the formation of superstitious practices among his followers.
