Dormants refers to the legend of the Seven Sleepers, a story more renowned in Islamic tradition than in Christian lore. According to the legend, during the reign of Emperor Decius in 250 AD, seven young men who served the emperor refused to renounce their Christian faith and sought refuge in a cave near Ephesus. They miraculously slept for two centuries, during which they experienced divine revelations. Upon awakening during the reign of Theodosius the Younger in 450 AD, they found the world transformed with Christianity firmly established. Their faithful dog, Kratim or Katmir, also miraculously survived the long slumber, becoming highly intelligent and revered.
